My husband noticed Books-a-Million on Broad Street is closed. I never much cared for the place for books- the staff was generally good and the magazine selection was the best in town (at least for my cross stitch). And so it's the personable curmudgeon Philip Levine as our new poet laureate.

A "working man" because he grew up in Detroit. A "common" man because he isn't an elite New Yorker.

I happen to like his poems. A lot. But there is a certain cynicism attached to the decision to offer up a "commoner" to the people, when the middle class is under such pressure.

I did write a poem per day through the 16th or so but my get up and write rode away with a handsome cowboy. Or something like that.

Actually, I've been working, singing, doing the church choir director thing (Sundays plus 2 funerals).

squeeze her legs tight in the car too prim to answer
