I go to so many poetry readings and open mikes- here's an article that everyone should be able to use, at least some part-

Very helpful guide to those who take the stage and choose to read AT, instead of TO, their audience. I happily notice that seasoned poets follow these guidelines innately; less-seasoned poets tend to kill you with too many poems and nervousness that becomes contagious.

And I've been guilty of that myself at times. Always learning.
